The Mullin's Story
Let us start at the beginning…close to 15 years ago with the conception of a child, a child we had tried to conceive for many years. There had been no greater news than the news that we were going to have a baby. It wouldn't be long before that wonderful news would turn to one of life's greatest heartaches. The death of our only biological child, a baby boy named Jeremy. He was born too soon to survive. A future filled with hopelessness, so we thought.
Little did we know then how God was preparing the way for our first adopted child. Another 3 years would pass until God would carry us down the road of adoption that He had for us and a young girl and her boyfriend from Missouri.
The young couple I am talking about were 18 and 19 years old when they found themselves with an unexpected pregnancy. Unable to tell their parents in fear of how disappointed they may be in them, they decided not to tell anyone. They decided to marry and move to Texas in order to hide their secret. Even though they wanted to hide their actions, adoption was a very difficult decision for them. They knew, however, that they were just too young and weren't financially stable to raise a child. As they prayed and sought out adoption, the Lord led them to an agency in Temple, TX.
During this same time, we were getting the name of this same agency from a friend. You see, there are no accidents in the plans of God. As time went on all the procedures that were necessary were taking place in order for this adoption to come to pass. The adoption agency required us to write a letter to our perspective birthparents. We were told later that the couple felt a great peace from God as they read pour letter and they picked us for the parents of their soon-to-be-born baby boy.
The couple did have one request for us. They wanted to give us the baby personally, to place him in our arms. They very much wanted their baby to know he was never abandoned, but placed directly in the arms of his new parents. They wanted to meet us, put their arms around us, tell us how much they loved us, and how much they loved their baby.
What a beautiful memory we will always have of that special day - a mother giving out of love, to another mother receiving that gift of love. A young father gently carrying his child to the adoptive father, embracing him and asking him to raise this child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, Jesus Christ. A short time later, two couples would walk out the doors, down different paths, to different futures that were directly guided by God the Father.
A very grateful mother,
CoCo Mullins
