Thanks to a cooperative relationship with Early Head Start (EHS) of CSISD Mama Club nursery rooms were refreshed and refitted this summer for more stimulating play for the children. EHS uses this room once a week for their socialization events with families whose children are 3 and under. The home visitation staff brings music, movement and hands on learning activities for parents to share with their children in this area. These experiences build strong parent/child bonds which reduce child neglect and abuse within at risk families.

Children of Mama Club participants who walk and run have enjoyed the centers and toys. They find it easier to leave their Mama when these play opportunities are before them. Volunteers find it easier to help clean up the room at the end of the night.

For the lap babies and crawlers of Mama Club participants plenty of space and interesting toys give them incentive to move about and gain mastery of their own bodies.
