In Need of Some Hope?
Have
you heard comments like: "I hope you do well on your test,”
"I hope you feel better soon," or "I hope it doesn’t
rain this weekend." So many times the word "hope" flies
right off our tongue, yet we seldom stop and think about its true meaning.
Right
now you are faced with some difficult decisions in your life. If someone
came up to you and said, "I hope everything turns out," what
would that mean to you now? Would that comfort you or make you feel
better? What do you need to hear to give you hope now that you’re
faced with an unplanned pregnancy?
The
word "hope" means to desire something with some confidence
of fulfillment. Where is your confidence or hope right now? Is it in
the father of your child, your friends, your family, or your possessions?
Maybe you have no confidence in anyone or anything. People and possessions
will often let you down.
There
is only one person who can give you hope for your tomorrow. There is
only one person you can have confidence in and He will NEVER let you
down. God understands the emotions you have right now. God is not out
to hurt you, but rather HE WANTS TO GIVE YOU HOPE!
The
Bible tells us that God:
Created
you. He wove you together in your
mother’s womb.
He understands your thoughts. Even before there
is a word on your tongue
He knows it. He
knows the anxious thoughts
you are
experiencing at this very
moment.
(This is found in Psalm
139)
God loves you. The Lord says, "I have loved you
with an everlasting love;
Therefore, I have
drawn you with
loving kindness."
Jeremiah
31:3
Deep
down we all desire to be known and loved. Not just with an “if
you please me I will love you” kind of love…we need to be
loved unconditionally…loved just for who we are. The ultimate
hope for your future is to experience that kind of unconditional love.
For when you have that, you can face anything life can dish out, even
an unplanned pregnancy!
